Norland Research has been in business since 1982, started by Norman Rowland. The company started by selling plans for electric car conversions. Then in 1998 we started building a small robot kit based on the Basic Stamp made by Parallax, and discontinued the electric car plans. We found the internet and have grown every year since then. Texas Instruments has allowed us to make the robot for their graphing calculator lines. Currently the company is owned by Rick Rowland II, Rebbecca Gergel (Rowland) and their father Rick Rowland (mom is our gopher and book keeper). Rebbecca uses her income to continue to go college while being an 8th grade science teacher. She is also grooming her newborn, Zoe Jean, in the business of robotics. Rick II attended UNLV to become a geologist and now works at NASA. Rick Sr. works with computers and RV parts and collects robot from the eighties. The Calculator Controlled Robot Kit is now 95% of our business. We hand make them as needed. Throughout the years, we have met many outstanding people and continue to make new friends daily.
